What needs to be done on your project?

Suppose you have decided to renovate your bathroom, kitchen, laundry room, or any other space and have some ideas for a new layout and finishes. When looking for the right contractor to remodel, it is crucial to ensure that the job description is clear to guarantee an accurate estimation and a smooth process without any future misunderstandings with the contractor.

This is professionally termed as “scope of work.” Even if the job is small, such as remodeling a single wall or one room, it is essential to correctly identify all activities and materials and put them in writing to avoid any confusion.

1- Design drawings

A floor plan at the minimum, especially if there will be a change to the existing layout. Interior elevations can additionally help clarify information that the floor plan didn’t cover.

2- List of materials

New finishes, furniture, light fixtures, and materials, etc. Some materials similar to paint and tile quantities can be calculated by the contractor.

3- Construction activities

Demolishing work, removing the existing items, waterproofing, replacing drywall, painting, plumbing, etc., and other construction activities that need to be clarified.

To get an accurate estimation of fees and time, it is recommended that you provide as many details as possible. This will help avoid future confusion or disagreement.
